Membership:
There are four
membership categories in the Society: (a) full - active members, (b)
associate - international corresponding members, (c)
honorary - emeritus members and (d) student - trainee members.
(a) full - active
members; any individual residing permanently in Europe, possessing a doctorate
or equivalent degree attesting to suitable qualification, who is interested and
involved in any area of research pertinent to cancer immunology and
immunotherapy as manifested by active scientific or clinical engagement,
original publications and participation in relevant conferences, can become a
full member.
Membership is accorded
following nomination by two full members and approval by the Board of
Directors.
Payment of annual dues
entitles a full member to all privileges including the right to elect and be
elected, to serve on committees or assemblies, to participate in general
activities of the Society and to receive a yearly subscription to the Society’s
official journal at a reduced rate.
(b) associate - international corresponding members; any individual not residing permanently
in

individual doctors or scientists or even organizations of researchers actively
engaged in the field of immunotherapy, in affiliated disciplines or
scientifically independent groups. Such membership entitles associate or
corresponding members to the same benefits as those of full members with the
exception of the rights to vote and hold office. Dues will be equivalent to
those of full members.
Associate membership
is also contingent upon sponsorship by two full members of the Society and
following approval by the Board of Directors.
(c) honorary - emeritus
members are noted for their distinguished contribution to and stature within
the field of cancer immunotherapy. Members may also include prominent
specialists in other fields whose achievements and general contributions to the
advancement of science for the benefit of humanity are well documented.
They are entitled to
all the privileges of full members and are not required to pay any dues.
Eligibility for membership follows a recommendation by the Board of Directors
and the sanction of the General Assembly.
(d) student - trainee members; graduate students, post doctoral fellows or other basic
scientists as well as clinical oncologists working in the field of cancer
immunology and/or immunotherapy may become members at a discounted rate.
They are eligible to
attend general assembly meetings and exercise their right to vote as well as
serve on committees. They may not, however, be elected to the Society’s Board
of Directors.
Application to the
Society must be proposed by two full members and approved by the Board of
Directors.
The Board rules on
approval or rejection of an application within one month of its submission. If
the application is rejected, the applicant can resort to the General Assembly to
formally appeal the decision.
