Membership:

There are four membership categories in the Society: (a) full - active members, (b)

associate - international corresponding members, (c) honorary - emeritus members and (d) student - trainee members.

(a) full - active members; any individual residing permanently in Europe, possessing a doctorate or equivalent degree attesting to suitable qualification, who is interested and involved in any area of research pertinent to cancer immunology and immunotherapy as manifested by active scientific or clinical engagement, original publications and participation in relevant conferences, can become a full member.

Membership is accorded following nomination by two full members and approval by the Board of Directors.

Payment of annual dues entitles a full member to all privileges including the right to elect and be elected, to serve on committees or assemblies, to participate in general activities of the Society and to receive a yearly subscription to the Society’s official journal at a reduced rate.

(b) associate - international corresponding members; any individual not residing permanently in Europe with equivalent qualifications and ranks as named above for full members, who may be recommended membership to the Board and elected by a membership committee.

Such members may be individual doctors or scientists or even organizations of researchers actively engaged in the field of immunotherapy, in affiliated disciplines or scientifically independent groups. Such membership entitles associate or corresponding members to the same benefits as those of full members with the exception of the rights to vote and hold office. Dues will be equivalent to those of full members.

Associate membership is also contingent upon sponsorship by two full members of the Society and following approval by the Board of Directors.

(c)  honorary - emeritus members are noted for their distinguished contribution to and stature within the field of cancer immunotherapy. Members may also include prominent specialists in other fields whose achievements and general contributions to the advancement of science for the benefit of humanity are well documented.

They are entitled to all the privileges of full members and are not required to pay any dues. Eligibility for membership follows a recommendation by the Board of Directors and the sanction of the General Assembly.

(d) student - trainee members; graduate students, post doctoral fellows or other basic scientists as well as clinical oncologists working in the field of cancer immunology and/or immunotherapy may become members at a discounted rate.

They are eligible to attend general assembly meetings and exercise their right to vote as well as serve on committees. They may not, however, be elected to the Society’s Board of Directors.

Application to the Society must be proposed by two full members and approved by the Board of Directors.

The Board rules on approval or rejection of an application within one month of its submission. If the application is rejected, the applicant can resort to the General Assembly to formally appeal the decision.
